To be able to use the BBS, you need to be connected to the server. The server of this BBS is physically located in Vienna, Austria.
So, the first thing you need is to be connected to the Internet! :-) OK.. your Internet Settings are ok, now looking for software... You can choose between two:

• Telnet or Terminal Emulation
• CLient

Telnet

If you want to know really what is Telnet, you will not find the answer here. We will only teach you how to use this protocol for your BBS acces. If you are using a windows Computer, you have to install a Terminal emulation software. Windows already include one, called Telnet.exe.
Warning : some Terminal emulation software are not ANSI compatible, you may have problem with colors and/or Casino games on the BBS. Telnet.exe from Windows does not support color ! :-(

On Un*x systems (Linux, SCO, ...) telnet client is already set up in the system itself. If your Internet connection is ok, hit '

If this is your first login on the BBS, have a look to the "Registering" page. Else, enter your nickname and password.

CLient

CLient is something like Telnet, but allows special features for the users. For example, you can use arrows keys to move under X or Post when entering one. Some graphical CLients (like windows one) have a color bar, to easily change colors in messages. You can download a CLient on the Gateway page of Global Village BBS. You will be able to find CLient versions for Windows, Unix, ...
